Hello, I recently upgraded from a 7900 to a 9950x. After updating the BIOS and reconfiguring everything, I noticed the system disregards the settings I entered. I've enabled PBO in manual mode with a 150W TDP cap, but the system still runs at high temperatures (200+). The temperature limit I set to 90°C is causing throttling. My MSI B650M-P worked fine before, so what’s the issue? *Reminder: I’m not using Ryzen Master for this process, just to see the changes.*

You're referring to the PBO feature on your system. It seems you're experiencing throttling issues, possibly due to the CPU temperature reaching around 95°C as indicated in the spec sheet. Resetting BIOS settings without making changes might resolve the problem. It's worth questioning the necessity of PBO, especially on a powerful processor like the 9950X. The extra performance gain might not be worth the risk. Wishing you a great day!

I wasn't trying to push the CPU beyond its limits, I was just using dynamic frequency changes depending on power, temperature, and workload. If I wanted to restrict it by power, I need that feature turned on to define my power caps. Even when I completely turned off PBO, the motherboard still delivers full power until thermal throttling occurs, so disabling it wouldn't solve the problem. Worth noting, this wasn't a problem with the previous CPU or BIOS—I could adjust any settings and the board would follow.

I think your motherboard might need a BIOS update. Did the previous CPU and BIOS match the same motherboard? It might be wise to reach out to MSI support to discuss the problem. The 59050X is a high-power CPU, but it should adhere to the BIOS configurations.
