I’m still having trouble getting Windows to start, and it seems I’ve erased a partition with 4TB of backups and unfinished work. I was thinking about reinstalling because the system was acting up due to corrupted files. I intended to use a system reset, but it kept failing and nothing seemed to help. Now I’m planning to make a fresh partition with extra space for a bootable drive, load Windows onto it, and try again. Unknowingly, I deleted the grub file while dual booting with Elemental. I thought I’d done that and just gave up, but it’s not the end of the world. The real issue came when I used DiskPart to clean what I thought was my installation volume, but it ended up unmounted. I panicked and restarted, only to find that even after a reboot, I couldn’t boot using the rescue option. So I downloaded the install media and tried formatting C:/, installing Elemental on a free partition, while another partition remained ready for a Windows installer in Elemental. When I opened Elemental, it showed the 4TB drive as empty. I’m worried because the time between cleaning and formatting wasn’t enough, so I suspect the data might still be recoverable. I’m exhausted from working late and juggling my studies, and I made some really silly errors. Please help me out—I’m at my limit.
