If you proceed with the upgrade and later replace your hardware components like the CPU or motherboard, you'll need to reach out to Microsoft support to re-register the OS since it's tied to your device setup on their servers.

I think I’ll go with Windows 10 straight away without upgrading. I’ll compare prices and look for the best deal.
