Back when Windows 10 launched, people speculated about Russia developing a replacement OS because of what was seen as weaknesses in Windows 10. They didn’t make significant progress toward that goal.

I wasn't searching for a substitute, just checking if they managed to find a suitable option.

They confirmed it. I don’t remember the specific name, but they also have their own equipment.

I'm not familiar with this... yet. In the late '90s, a Russian student at a Russian school developed an OS that could run Windows applications. There hasn't been much talk about a fresh Windows alternative, though some countries offer their own versions of Linux.

They're developing their own Linux distribution specifically for government use. If they had begun, it would likely be completed quickly.

In the US and Canada, everything revolves around stories involving Russia, especially regarding Windows 10. Apparently, they used to run it, but when they discovered Telemetry, they reacted strongly. From what I understand, the Russians were thought to be a major purchaser of Windows, intending to operate it until they could set up their own version.

What you just read suggests Russia could remove American firms, like Microsoft and Google, by providing data to the U.S. government upon request.
