Need to pick a fresh motherboard but aren't sure what to select.
I constructed my setup in April 2021 using an i5 10400, 16GB 3000MHz RAM, Coolermaster Masterliquid ML240 v2 RGB, a 500GB digital Blue SSD M.2, and a 500W power supply. I’m currently looking for a motherboard and have discovered several choices: Asus TUF GAMING B460-PLUS ATX LGA1200, PCPartPicker MSI MAG B460M MORTAR, Asus TUF GAMING B460M-PLUS with Wi-Fi, PCPartPicker MSI MAG B460 TOMAHAWK, Gigabyte B560M AORUS ELITE, Gigabyte B560M AORUS PRO, ASRock B560 Pro4 ATX LGA1200, ASRock B560 Steel Legend, and Asus TUF GAMING B560M-PLUS. I’m not sure which one to pick since I mainly use my PC and don’t have a strong preference. If you can assist, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!
Your current board is working fine, but an upgrade is needed for better performance. The PSU should be a reliable 12V unit.
I'm upgrading my current setup—a MSI B460M PRO Micro ATX—since it's a budget model. I've got extra funds now and plan to improve some components, including swapping out the PSU for a 500W Evga BQ semi-modular unit.
Recommend retaining your existing motherboard and postponing upgrades for the CPU and RAM. A fresh motherboard won’t significantly boost performance, and we’re near enough to Alder Lake and Zen 4 that a larger upgrade would be unnecessary and unlikely to deliver meaningful gains.
Ensure it's practical and focused on essentials. Avoid unnecessary costs.
The issue with my current motherboard is that the AI cooler isn’t properly linked: I had to rearrange myself. There’s only one case fan, but there aren’t enough pins to connect them, so the fans spin at full speed and I can’t adjust it because it’s not in the right position. That’s why I considered switching to a new motherboard.

the issue with my current mobo is that the aio isn't connected correctly. i had to rearrange myself, as there aren’t enough pins for the fans, so one case fan doesn’t spin and the aio fans run at full speed without control. this happened because it wasn’t in the right attack setting. the main reason i wanted to switch to an atx mobo was because of these problems, even though the case looks pretty bad

Plan your savings for a GPU and possibly a better PSU. The motherboard is okay. Get a fan hub to add extra fans, which costs around five dollars on Amazon.
Just purchase a fan controller or a few fan splitters. The expense will be significantly lower than buying a new motherboard, and you won’t need to completely overhaul your setup. Unfortunately, I can't fix it myself, but you can handle it for the next six months. You might also consider a vertical GPU adapter to fill that gap?
