I possess this board:
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68V...fications/
and this CPU:
Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz
Currently it has only 8GB of memory and I am considering an upgrade, both for the RAM and possibly the CPU.
I discovered two documents regarding compatible memory:
8G_DIMM_QVL.pdf
Shared with Dropbox
www.dropbox.com
P8Z68-V_Series_DRAM_QVL.pdf

www.dropbox.com
I have some questions, as I’m not familiar with this situation anymore:
What specifications should I look for when buying new memory to replace the one in my system? After installation, do I need to overclock it for improved performance? Is there a simple method to do that, or would I need professional help? The same applies to the CPU—can it be upgraded, or should I stick with what I have?
Thank you for your assistance!

4 x DIMM, capacity up to 32GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz Non-ECC, un-buffered memory.
4 slots available, maximum 32GB RAM if you prefer 16GB, consider purchasing a 2x8GB DDR3-1600MHz kit. For 32GB, use the same kit but double the capacity.

Ensure your system runs the latest BIOS after installing the i7-2600K. Upgrade to i7-3770K, but expect to require an aftermarket cooler for the new CPU and overclocking.

Thanks for the reply!
I'm checking memory options on Newegg and seeing DDR3 and DDR3L — which should I choose for this board? Also, I noticed only 1.5v, 1.35v, and 1.65v are listed; where can I find 1.65v?
My CPU cooler was purchased when the system was built, is it enough for the newer CPU?

the goal of upgrading is to enhance performance, such as for gaming or addressing aging components.
