In the Properties section of a file or folder, (select right-click > Properties), you'll see a tab named "Security." It may seem confusing at first, but it's straightforward: what you need to do is click "Edit," which opens a panel for adding or removing users. Choose "Add," then select "Advanced" > "Find Now" to list all available accounts. Pick the one you want. Click OK, then OK again. If needed, confirm your choice and choose "Full control." Finally, click OK once more.

They advised me not to proceed unless I fully understand my situation or the requirements involved.

Same concept. You must include your account in the permissions. The truth is, the name you see is just a label. Your actual ID is a randomly created number like S-1-5-21-2181175055-2448552991-1163977544-503. In reality, you might find an account such as this in the Security section—your previous Windows account stored on the HDD.

The issue appears with Program Files (x86). The 'add' option is disabled and hard to click, often shown as grayed out. Your key files are mainly in Program Files and a few in user/appdata.

If you need to duplicate folders from Program Files, it's best to reinstall the application. Although most programs don't mind skipping the setup, doing so ensures you get all the added features and convenience. App settings and files usually reside in your personal folder rather than where they were originally installed.

You're asking if moving files from Program Files (x86) would require a full reinstall. Yes, it's advised to reinstall the entire system, move it to an SSD, and clear the HDD folder to free space. The data in your User folder—like skins, wins, settings—will remain intact after reinstalling the game.

I suggest reinstalling the software to guarantee it has everything required to operate, such as essential libraries like Microsoft Visual C++ redistribution. This also informs the operating system about the app’s presence, making certain functions smoother. Even if most programs don’t mind a simple relocation, reinstallation ensures nearly all components are ready, preventing unexpected issues. User-generated data—settings, saved files, etc.—usually aren’t stored at the installation location. For games, assets like skins remain with the game install, while unofficial content needs manual addition. Your personal information is kept in the Users folder, spread across various locations. This guide can assist you in retrieving what you need.

The instructions are definitely confusing. Are you trying to skip moving everything to your SSD? Just loading games and specific apps can improve speed while keeping less critical files on your HDD.

User preferences will be updated completely unless you prefer not to. Some applications automatically save your settings in your personal directory by default.
