Need suggestions for improving your computer setup (two choices available)
My initial post, please be gentle. I’ll make sure to include all the necessary details so you can assist me in making the right decision.
I have two older systems that are still functional: a Dell XPS 8300 and an Intel NUC Skull Canyon. Here are their basic specifications:
DELL XPS 8300
Intel Core i5-2400
6GB RAM (1333, 2x2GB and 2x1GB)
460W PS
Radeon HD 5700 GPU
1TB 7200rpm drive
Windows 10 22H2
INTEL NUC Skull Canyon
Intel Core i7-6770HQ
16GB RAM (1x16GB)
256GB NVMe
IRIS graphics
Windows 10 22H2
Neither of these systems will support Windows 11. From what I see, both are still usable but quite outdated. My goal is to play CoD Warfare Warzone in multiplayer through the Xbox online portal. I’m thinking of a small, affordable upgrade for one of them so I can enjoy the game with my nephews. I’d like some advice on which option to choose and what specs would work best. I’m open to suggestions—whether it’s upgrading the existing system or replacing it entirely.
Please let me know your recommendations. I’m looking for specific details such as GPU models, RAM amounts, and storage sizes. And if upgrading either of these would be a complete waste, don’t hesitate to mention it.
Thank you all in advance.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
The best choice would be to connect an external GPU dock or GPU and link it to the Thunderbolt 3 port on your NUC.
I think Windows 10 will stop receiving support later this year, so I’d prefer a build with multiple components instead of sticking to one option.
I wouldn’t use the prebuilt XPS unless I’m doing a restoration for future users.
You can avoid spending money by using a mouse and keyboard with the Xbox. Warzone works this way.
