Need suggestions for improving your computer setup?
Hello everyone, I’m planning a PC upgrade right now. Right now my system runs: GPU GTX 1060 (6GB), Intel i5 3550 CPU, cooling from Alpenföhn Brocken, MSI Z77A-G43 motherboard, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB storage with an SATA SSD and a 1TB HDD. The power supply is 550W. A few notes: my board has two PCIe slots—one for Gen 2 and one for Gen 3. The Gen 3 slot only fits the graphics card snugly, which is why I moved it there to avoid disconnections. With Black Friday approaching, I’m considering a refresh. My main goals are fixing the Gen 2 slot issue and upgrading the CPU. I’m thinking about a Ryzen 5 3600, an Aorus Elite X570, and 16GB DDR4 3600 CL16 RAM. The X570 could be a bit too much, but I want a solid board for future upgrades like PCIe 4.0. I’ve heard Ryzen works best on the X570 and that 3600MHz RAM is ideal. I’m also curious about whether the 550W PSU will handle a more powerful CPU. I mostly play games—Rocket League, single-player titles such as The Witcher III, Middle Earth series, Apex Legends—and I’m excited to try Cyberpunk 2077.
