Hey everyone, I’m looking to upgrade my RAM to a faster 3600MHz model. I’m not sure if it’s better to install both 8GB units at the same speed or to split them between A1 and B1 slots while moving the slower unit to another pair. Also, I’m curious—does having 16GB of fast memory perform better than 32GB with a mix? I’m using an Asus 270 Prime board with a 7700k processor and a GTX 1060 until I can get a 30-series RAM if they come out. Any advice would be great!

Only one memory configuration is allowed on each device. Using older modules with 32GB won’t let you use the fast components, resulting in slower performance.

It seems you're trying to combine different settings, but it's unclear how they fit together. You might need to select the frequency in the BIOS manually—your choice between 16GB at 3600MHz would depend on your specific needs.

I thought I could handle running one pair at one speed and another at a different speed, but it’s really frustrating. Despite all the progress in technology, it hasn’t been fully integrated yet. Someone should contact Microsoft and fix this, please! Thank you for your quick replies.
