Need Some Advice
Hello everyone, I recently constructed a PC two years ago and am considering making some improvements but I’m unsure where to focus. Please see my specifications below for your recommendations.
Motherboard: Asus B150 Pro Gaming/AURA
Power Supply: Corsair Cx550m
Processor: Intel i5 6500 @ 3.2 GHz
Memory: 8GB Kingston Fury X RAM 2133MHz
Storage: Kingston UV400 240GB SSD
Case: NZXT 340
Ideally, I’d like to enhance my gaming experience – though it currently works – with a smoother visual appearance. Or if you suggest a new motherboard, please let me know, but it must be compatible with my Intel i5 6500.
The GeForce RTX 1660 Super currently represents an excellent entry-level mid-range graphics card, delivering robust performance at 1080p for approximately $240. Alternatively, the 1650 Super is available around $170 in various models and still provides suitable gaming at 1080p; however, you’ll likely need to utilize reduced graphical settings and it will perform optimally on a display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. Adding a second RAM module will also improve system performance by enabling dual-channel memory operation.
You neglected to specify your graphics card. Considering what you intend to play, if you primarily enjoy competitive shooters and multiplayer games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, and League of Legends: DotA 2, your computer should be sufficient. However, for more recent titles such as the latest Cyberpunk 2077 and similar games, I’d suggest upgrading to 16GB of RAM. The i5-6500 is a very powerful processor, often performing similarly to my previous systems – an i7-3770 – though it may begin to demonstrate its age within a few years.
Thanks well I dont have a GPU just what the i5 carries HD 530 I think. The GPU is what i want to add to my PC just don't know which one to get and from RAM yeah I was thinking of bumping it to 16gb. What GPU do you recommend tho
The ideal graphics card choice hinges on your financial constraints. Nevertheless, considering that processor, I’d suggest a GTX 1060 or 1660 – even a 1660Ti would work well as an affordable option, and it shouldn't significantly limit the performance of your CPU. However, this depends largely on the types of games you intend to play; if you plan to increase your RAM, you’ll likely need powerful hardware for demanding titles.
