I have no prior knowledge of laptop hardware.
My budget is around 700USD.
The notebook size I’m evaluating is 15 inches or larger.
I prefer a screen resolution of 1920x1080 or higher.
I’m seeking a portable replacement for my desktop, not a desktop itself.
I require a battery life of at least 2 to 3 hours.
I don’t plan to play games on my laptop; if that’s necessary, please specify the desired settings.
Other tasks I’d like to perform include photo and video editing, with minimal usage.
I need a minimum hard drive capacity of 512GB.
If you have preferred websites for purchasing, please share the links.
https://www.bestbuy.com or Amazon.com is preferred because it’s more likely to have local availability.
I want to keep my laptop for as long as possible before it fails.
I’m interested in optical drives such as DVD ROM/Writer or Blu-ray ROM/Writer, but not required.
I’d like to know your preferred brands and any that you dislike, along with reasons—avoiding Lenovo due to past issues and HP.
I’m from the USA.
If you need more details, I’d like it to support HDMI 2.0 or similar for 4K content, though this isn’t mandatory.
Right now I’m considering a low-end gaming laptop based on some suggestions.

This is
a shortlist
for the units I think would fit your needs. Of that, if you're able to
get this unit
.
