Need internet access but facing a shortage of ISPs.
Mint mobile confirms they’re unaffected by using a 4G modem with their services. They offer a 1TB plan but experience reduced speeds after reaching 35GB usage. I’ve reached out to the business team or Spectrum, but it’s not a viable option for them long-term. I recognize the initial setup cost, which was higher before we used more expensive internet plans.
Hopefully, you won’t have to wait long for more neighbors to move in and ISPs to follow suit. In the meantime, for basic internet you’re limited to mobile networks and their constraints. If you’re not ready for Starlink, another choice exists—but the initial expense could be too high, and even then it might not pay off. You might set up a wireless connection between two points: one at the town edge with a wired ISP link, and another at your home that receives the signal via a PtP wireless link from the ISP uplink. This arrangement needs two directional antennas facing each other, with clear space in the Fresnel zone (high ground, minimal obstacles). The ISP can host the uplink at the edge, then transmit it through the wireless link to your residence.
