Did the i7-4790 include a temperature sensor? It wasn't clear, especially since it's an older model.

I use Intel Core Temp to keep track of temperatures. It works perfectly! You can check it at alcpu.com.

Since the Core 2 CPUs era onward, thermal sensors have been integrated, and the 4790 follows suit.

Pentium 4 models also include temperature monitoring sensors. However, they are only available on the Super I/O chip (Socket 478).

Indeed, I overlooked P4's having them; I assumed they were socket-based sensors because my 170L system relied on software instead.

Using the onboard temperature sensor on any CPUs can sometimes behave oddly, especially with unstable PSU voltages. Yet throttle stops still manage to detect temperatures properly, suggesting the motherboard might have issues.
