Hey everyone, I'm considering a PC upgrade and looking for the best options. Here’s what I have right now:
CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X
GPU: Gigabyte Gaming RTX 3070 8GB
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming II WiFi
RAM: 32GB G.Skill 4000MHz
Storage: 500GB M.2 (Boot) + 1TB HDD
Main uses: gaming and video editing, especially for Steam and Adobe Premiere.
What upgrades would have the biggest effect? Any ideas would be great! Thanks in advance!
For video editing, I recommend using a CPU. Gaming would benefit from both CPU and GPU upgrades, since 8GB VRAM is insufficient for most modern games, unless you're playing e-sports or older titles. The decision largely depends on your budget, as well as the specifications of your PSU.

I could think about swapping the HDD for an SSD.
Two 1 or 2TB SSDs would be quite sensible.
You might reuse the HDD as an external backup.
For gaming, try this test:
Play your games, but reduce the resolution and visual effects.
This can slightly improve performance.
If your FPS rises, it suggests your CPU is powerful enough for better graphics settings.
If it remains unchanged, you’re likely CPU-bound.
You could upgrade to a 5 series processor on your existing motherboard.
What is the model of your PSU?
That could restrict any further GPU upgrades.
Puget Systems advises that 8GB VRAM is sufficient for Adobe Premiere Pro at 4K, yet they suggest 12GB for DaVinci Resolve at the same resolution.
