Let’s get your memory running at its full potential by enabling XMP in the motherboard BIOS – that way, it’ll be getting the right speed, voltage, and timings. If it still doesn’t boot up, double-check that the RAM is installed in the A2 and B2 slots, which is common on ASUS boards. Also, before you start testing, turn off VSync, FreeSync, or GSync; that can actually boost your graphics card score. If you're playing on a 1080p monitor, you should be able to run most new games smoothly with the settings turned up high. Right now, parts are really expensive and hard to find, so it might be best to wait a little while before making a purchase.

My monitor is only 60Hz, which means I experience screen tearing if I play games that go above 60 frames per second without VSync enabled. Also, I’m having trouble finding the XMP setting in my computer’s BIOS.

That trick for turning off VSync only boosted scores on Userbenchmark, honestly – it’s not really a big deal, and you should keep it enabled to prevent screen tearing.

You can find the XMP settings under the “Performance” section in your BIOS, though they might be labeled “DOCP,” which is what ASUS uses for XMP.

What games are giving this system trouble?

That sounds like a good plan to me, but as soon as you can afford it, definitely get a graphics card. Something like a 1080 Ti, or maybe a 2060 or 2080 Ti – anything in that range would be great for you.

I’m really into playing the Tekkit pack on Minecraft, and even with OptiFine installed – which helps speed things up – I'm still only averaging around 55 frames per second, with it dropping down to about 30 pretty consistently. I also enjoy The Outer Worlds, and that runs at a smooth 45 fps when I’ve got the settings set to medium.

Let’s give the XMP or DOCP settings a shot in those games and see what happens. It might not be a massive change, but it could definitely help them run smoother and let you play for longer.
