Hey, just a quick update. I did all the RAM testing thing and was able to achieve 5.1Ghz all cores with an adaptive voltage offset -0.105V (1.326V Peak running Prime95), LLC4 and 79C, is this a good result? Still testing, but everything seems stable with P95, AIDA64, Cinebench20 and Asus Realbench so far.

After about fifteen minutes, I said it was stable but suddenly got a random BSOD with an error like "faulty hardware corrupted page." It could be my RAM. If that's true, I'll run memtest86 again to check for errors. Should I turn up the voltage on VCCIO and VCCA a little bit?

The VCCIO setting really messes up the Super I/O voltage, which is part of the LAN controller on some motherboards. What I figured out from my own testing was that if you keep VCCIO too low under 1.0 volts, it causes a lot of instability. Intel says there are strict limits for DDR4 voltages when using XMP 2.0, and they say the limit is always 1.5 volts no matter what speed or timings you choose. They also strongly recommend not going higher than that. This is the only place I've ever found where it's really safe to stay within voltage limits for DDR4.

My computer uses a Skylake processor and two boards (Hero VIII and Gaming 5), which both are definitely POST-Haswell but use VCCSA/System agent and VCCIO only. I don't see any VCCIO or VTT on the Gaming 5 in HWinfo, while my Hero VIII shows VCCIO and VCCSA without VTT. This shows some differences between generations even within the same gen. Intel recommends using specific voltages for overclocked systems to avoid issues with other hardware like LAN, and I've had great luck with those settings on every board I set up. Whether Canyon Lake works the same way I'm not sure yet since I haven't tried it, but from what I know there are no huge differences in these settings compared to older Skylake chips or other architectures. Intel even suggests using as much as 1.06v for normal use and up to 1.25v when overclocking, which is higher than usual. Based on this, we're still running on Skylake architecture even though the process technology has changed.

Hey everyone, sorry to bother you again. I took out the "solved" label because something else got messed up right now. I found a way to check if my OC will crash my PC instantly by using Intel's XTU V/F curve. Even when setting everything to auto and just raising the clock multiplier to see what my max Vcore is, my computer reboots without any error messages (like BSOD). I'll attach a video showing this specific problem. Do you have any idea why this is happening? It never happens when I leave everything at stock settings or just overclock the memory alone.

I do not like XTU and I never recommend using that software. I don't like XTU, but I needed just the normal voltage and frequency settings, and that worked fine. If my character feels unstable when XTU is running, how can I change something inside the BIOS to stop those crashes?

I'm sure it has to do with your RAM being all over the place. If your computer acts up when using default settings, chances are you need to boost the power or drop the speed down a bit. That's usually what makes things smooth again.
