I am trying to wipe my granddaughter's Asus X553M laptop so she can sell it. I think it was originally Windows 8.1, but her other late grandfather put Windows 10 on it instead. It has a password that she knows, and there is an Administrator sign-up spot on the screen, but she doesn't know how to get in or what the password is. When I try pressing F9 to start the reset, it stops and says I need either the original hard drive or recovery media. She doesn't have any of those things anymore. I tried looking for a fix online, but I gave up because I can't find an easy way to do this without them.

It's not just "reset," it's actually a complete wipe and fresh start with Win 10. Here is the guide on how to do a clean install step-by-step for Windows. If you need info on upgrading to Windows 11, check this link: [Windows 11 Clean install tutorial](https://forums. Otherwise, welcome to our Windows 10 clean install guide. This post walks through the process so you can do it yourself without any help from others.
