I installed Manjaro Linux on another machine and everything worked, but I didn’t back up important files like pictures. I only have the essentials, so I’m worried about losing them. I understand data recovery isn’t straightforward, especially with privacy concerns. If you need to recover images in Linux without reformatting for Windows, you might try using tools like `rsync`, `tar`, or specialized recovery utilities such as `PhotoRec` or `TestDisk`. Be cautious and back up regularly to avoid losing anything permanently.

I tried photorec, it worked better than any other option I used, though I can't locate it on my device.

Ensure recovered data isn't saved to the original disk during recovery.

Yes, that was indeed the package I had. It was removed from my installed list.

Testdisk is the best option. I’d likely recommend starting with a bootable USB to prevent altering the data on the damaged drive, which could worsen the corruption.
