I have a 7700k and I feel like the temperatures are unusual. I just installed it last week and have been running it at stock settings. When I tried to overclock to 4.8GHz with a vcore of 1.24v, the temperatures reached the mid-80s. Is this typical for this CPU?

I was aware this CPU would be hot, but at 1.24v it seems quite unexpected.

I used relatively inexpensive thermal paste.

Also, I have a Captain 240 EX cooler.

What advice would you give?

Do you have a cooler? Intel tends to get hot.

Is it around the mid-80s when you're running tests or just sitting idle? If during stress tests on Aida and RealBench everything works, then it's okay. Otherwise, there might be issues.

Reviewed Cinebench CPU temperatures and they seem fine at 4.8Ghz. What about your Intelburn results during the standard test? That would give us a clearer picture.
