Need Help Overclocking a 5820K
Hi,
I put together my PC in January and here it is:

I have a 5820K processor, which I think is 3.3Ghz with 6 cores, an MSI X99A motherboard and an H100i GTX cooler.
The issue is, I’m not sure how to overclock. I’ve seen people online using 4GHz+ on a 5820K but I don’t know the steps. Could someone help me or guide me through the process?
Thanks in advance,
Wesley
So those unlocked CPU features are mainly about adjusting the multiplier and tweaking voltages to achieve stable high speeds for optimal performance. You can try overclocking RAM, but it's not mandatory. To boost your CPU, pick a desired MHz and work toward it, gradually lowering the voltage to minimize heat and get the best temps.
Do you comprehend the risks associated with OCing? What are your objectives for this process? The OCing Haswell-E platform has various stages based on your goals. Typically, you aim to achieve the highest core speed first, then memory speed and timings, and finally Uncore speed. Keep in mind that certain memory dividers are compatible only with specific CPU BCLK straps. Some speeds are optimized for 100 strap, while others are designed for 125. This must be considered when adjusting multipliers. Additionally, multiple voltages are involved, and they need to stay within a particular range to function well together during OCing. I recommend checking tutorials tailored to your specific board as a starting point. I can guide you through manual steps, but the settings will differ since our boards come from different manufacturers.

This manual is an older one, but still useful.
I've successfully overclocked several models, achieving speeds between 4.4 and 4.6 at voltages under 1.3.
Feel free to reach out if you encounter any issues.
