Need Help Overclocking
Hello, my name is Noah. I've just started playing PC games and am eager to maximize my system's performance safely. My setup includes:
- Intel i7 980x at 3.33ghz
- Two GTX 780 graphics cards running in SLC
- Evga x58 SLI motherboard
- 16 GB of RAM (only 7.99 GB are currently usable)
- Stock Intel CPU cooler
- Cooler Master HAF case
- Antec 1200 watt power supply
- 500 GB hard drive
I'm completely new to overclocking and would really appreciate a detailed guide tailored for my specific PC. Please let me know if you have any questions about my build. Thank you!
you won't find a perfect match for your specific system configuration, but there are several reliable walktroughs available online. below you'll find one suitable for all i7 900 series chips.

in general, your chip should perform well with a 4ghz overclock. you might even reach 4.2ghz if you're lucky, depending on the CPU model. results vary. if you don't achieve those exact figures, don't worry. aim for the lowest stable voltage and keep temperatures under 80c during full load. this should be helpful.
