Need help fixing issues with a new CPU?
The only thing I'm thinking of right now is making sure PBO is off. Then, I'll test it with no OC in my memory. Basically, just let it run with a default value before creating an EXPO profile.
Even though it still crashes when using just one stick, I have tested both sticks. Will that fix the memory issue? I am thinking about swapping out my motherboard because switching components hasn't helped me.
Since the motherboard is starting up and successfully loading Windows, this isn't likely causing the problem. I would have changed my memory sticks before touching anything else though. RAM can be very sensitive to static electricity so always ground yourself when handling it, right? Does it crash with the 1050 TI paired with the 2200G? Are you using the GPU's HDMI connection or its DisplayPort? After your last power reset tell us exactly what UEFI settings are changing before Windows starts up if any.
Yeah, I do that before and while doing stuff inside my case. No, nothing has ever happened like this since then. The trouble started only after swapping the CPU. When I checked the HDMI settings, I didn't change anything after clearing the CMOS on the first boot and it crashed. Then I turned off CSM support, still crashing. Next, I tried different combinations of PBO with XMP off or PBO off while XMP is on. It crashes randomly every time, sometimes after five minutes, sometimes an hour when idle, almost immediately when trying to run a game. I never touched any more advanced settings than those. I have an old GTX 750 Ti somewhere. Maybe I can try running the system with it to rule out my GTX 1050 Ti being the problem.
Always turn off CSM support when you install on your current computer. If Windows 11 starts and CSM is still on, you messed up. Make sure it's being set to GPT (not MBR) while installing Windows. It will automatically choose GPT if CSM is turned off. Edit: The choice between GPT/UEFI or MBR/Legacy depends on what kind of installation disk you use. See the post below for more info. Sorry about that inconvenience.
I forgot to add that detail, so please use GPT-UEFI (not CSM) when making your Windows drive. If you are using Rufus, it should look like this: https://youtu.be/EJHKuwBhdB4 Pretend the video is for Windows 11 and the steps are exactly the same.
I put Windows 11 back on by turning off the compatibility settings and added all the extra parts. Then I swapped in some fresh memory sticks so nothing was broken before that. But neither of those steps helped fix it.
