Need help choosing a linux distro
Hey there, I’ve tried Linux before and it didn’t sit well with me. I needed to understand commands to run programs, and I didn’t want to spend time figuring that out. I got a Dell laptop for my birthday, which I plan to use during lunch breaks at work while studying on Free Code Camp. My needs are: a browser for coding, watching YouTube videos during breaks, experimenting with Spyder, and maybe some web development tools. My laptop runs pretty slow but loads quickly thanks to Windows 10. After installing Avast antivirus and then removing it, things improved a bit but response times are still slow. I’m looking for a lightweight distro that’s beginner-friendly and programmer-friendly. Also, do I need to reinstall drivers like the touchpad driver? Thanks!
Fedora update with a speedy new fairy package. Strong support and nice interface.
I use mint on a second server; it works well, though fedora appears to be the latest option.
You're at Timmies trying to get your wireless driver working for home. When you enter the correct password, it shows disconnected from internet. You're working on Linux Mint 18 and are frustrated because it's slower than Windows 10. You've spent an hour trying fixes, checked the internet connection, and looked up tutorials for dual boot setups. You're wondering how to make your Wi-Fi connect properly even with a password. Someone might know how to help you set up a dual boot or troubleshoot the issue.
Sorry for being late, but elementary OS might be a better fit. It feels a bit simpler to handle.
