Yes, it's possible to set up a dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows 8 on your HP TS 11 AMD A4 1250 APU system. You'll need to choose the appropriate installation media and configure the boot order. For Ubuntu, consider using a 32-bit version if your system supports it, or opt for the 64-bit version if you're using a 64-bit Windows 8. If you prefer Windows 8, ensure your hardware meets the requirements and select the correct ISO image. Let me know if you need guidance on the steps!
yes that is possible. the system is very weak and underpowered, i would go with a lighter variant of Ubuntu. Xubuntu is a good one. it's Ubuntu, but with a much lighter desktop on it. it will put a lot less strain on your memory, cpu and graphics hardware. you have to make a bootable usb. google this. then, after you booted it and are going to install, make sure to select the option "install Xubuntu alongside Windows". it will then give you a simple slider so you can choose how much space each os gets. WARNING: CHOOSING "ERASE DISK AND INSTALL XUBUNTU" WILL WIPE YOUR HARDDRIVE, DO NOT DO THIS! IF YOU DON'T SEE THE OPTION TO INSTALL ALONGSIDE WINDOWS REPORT BACK HERE FIRST. THERE IS A SOLUTION FOR THAT ISSUE IF IT OCCURS. after the install is complete, you will be prompted to select an os to boot up everytime you boot your pc. so you can choose what you want to use everytime you boot it. also, side note, what gpu do you have? or are you using the integrated gpu?
Yes, it's achievable. You'll have to adjust your BIOS settings to turn off secure boot before installing Ubuntu. When setting up partitions for the installation, ensure you have a root partition and enough swap space—usually matching your RAM size. Adjust your Windows partition using the built-in tool in the Ubuntu installer. Some versions handle dual boot automatically, but verify this for your specific distro. After finishing setup, follow the prompts to finish the installation. When you restart, the bootloader GRUB will appear, showing both Windows Boot Manager and Ubuntu options. Remember to back up your data and consider having a backup machine ready for recovery if necessary.
I also considered Xubuntu. I don’t have the PC at the moment. I tried Ubuntu 16.x.x but it just froze before starting.
Verify your BIOS configuration for IOMMU settings on your 8350 + 990fx. Ensure Linux is enabled before booting.
