You're concerned about compatibility when adding an old hard drive to a new computer. The main issue is whether the old operating system on the old drive will work properly with your new OS. If the old OS is outdated, it might not run smoothly or at all on the new system. Make sure the old drive is compatible with your new hardware and software environment.

It shouldn't cause any issues. I have four units and everything works well. I also have two Windows installations on separate HDDs and a Windows 10 copy on another drive.

Ensure your standard drive is positioned higher than the previous one in the boot sequence.

The system was already assembled, so the primary SSD should be installed first. Then simply attach the second hard drive and everything should work fine.

The boot sequence could benefit from a tweak. If you start in the legacy system, simply reorder the entries in your BIOS settings.
