Hello everyone, I just moved into my own place but it only has basic Wi-Fi and no access to the router. Someone suggested using a gaming router to improve game lag and overall connection. I’m trying to figure out which router is best for me, especially since I’m new to this stuff and the information is confusing. Please help a lot! Thanks.
If you can't reach the router, purchasing a device won't fix the issue. Any purchased equipment must connect through that router. If you own a phone line and internet service, it should function. However, in shared living arrangements, the most viable option is using an Ethernet adapter plugged into the router—only if all units share the same ground wire in the fuse box. For Wi-Fi-only setups from an unreachable router, the best approach is to use a high-gain antenna and position it near the router's nearest wall.
The idea of a "gaming router" doesn't exist. You should use a router with QoS capabilities that you can adjust for better Wi-Fi performance.
