I noticed a recent discussion about an underpowered pre-built unit and wondered if it could work for me. I'm planning an upgrade, as my current setup is outdated (an old i5 and a 970). I was hoping the helpful community from these forums could assist again, as they did before. I’d like to go all out but aim for a price around £1,400, possibly lower if feasible. A 4070 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D seem like the top choices for what I need. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Your setup appears to be on track, though I’d consider opting for a more premium motherboard when matching it with that processor. Additionally, increasing the PSU capacity by 100W would provide better headroom for longer operation.

You want DDR5-6000 CL30. Air cooling is easier to work with for that case and here's a better SSD for cheaper.

A cheap liquid cooler isn't a good choice.
The motherboard must support the CPU; otherwise, opt for a simpler, less powerful CPU.
High latency RAM is a serious mistake. It's not your responsibility. They don't clarify what it means or why lower is better.
I don't think you can afford a 4070 build. The 4070 Ti Super is what you should consider. If you're not interested in that, go for the 4060 or upgrade to a Radeon RX 7800XT or RX 7900GRE.
The 7900GRE is better than the 4060 and represents the best option if you can't afford the Ti Super.
The standard 4070 is unnecessary.
Your power supply should be more robust. This build exceeds £1400.
