Hello everyone, I'm facing some issues while overclocking my RAM with DRAM Calculator. My setup includes an MSI x570 motherboard, a 3950X CPU running at 4.2GHz all cores, and the G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 at 3600MHz CL16 (F4-3600C16D-32GTZN). I use Typhoon to read one of my dimms and then check the "Report" button with "Show delays in nanoseconds." After exporting, I saved a complete HTML report as G.Skill F4-3600C16-16GTZN.html.
Back in DRAM Calculator, I entered matching settings for Processor, Memory Type, Profile version, Memory Rank, Frequency, BCLK, DIMM Modules, and Motherboard. I also used the "Import XMP" feature to upload my generated report. Then I ran "Calculate FAST," which suggested specific values.
I opened my BIOS (MSI) and followed all the recommended settings, leaving other options on Auto with no POST. I increased DRAM and SOC voltage to their maximum settings. After booting into Windows, the system crashed within 10-20 seconds during a TM5 test.
I experimented with alternative values like procODT 53/40/48, tRFC(alt) 288/384, CAD_BUS Alt 1/2 (24/20/24/24), and others, but the system remained unstable. I also questioned whether to enable or disable the XMP profile with these settings. Both attempts failed. Any advice would be very helpful!
I saw reports that DRAM Calculator remains quite cautious even on "FAST" mode and should be within reach of most chips. My DIMMS are located in slots 2 and 4. I’m sure it lists two categories beneath "Organization" in Taiphoon.
Adjust the settings to single configuration for accurate readings. To operate the lower voltages, execute 16-16-16-16-32-48.
1.47 isn't acceptable. That RAM can handle up to 1.4 without issues at those speeds.
Several kits include 1.5V in XMP. I've never encountered a kit with those voltages and timing specs shipped with an XMP profile below 1.45V. G. Skill provides a lifetime warranty on their modules, so it makes sense they'd prioritize safety over lower voltage.
I checked various sources and found mostly agreement that 1.45V-1.5V works fine for Samsung B-dies in regular use. I switched to XMP off and followed the DRAM Calculator recommendations, raising the voltage to 1.45V. The system stabilized immediately with no errors in TM5. Temperatures dropped from 45°C under default settings to around 54°C during testing. I ran a memtest overnight and will compare results tomorrow before making further adjustments.
