Hello everyone, I'm finally starting my new desktop this year. I've been eagerly anticipating this for a long time, so I'm really excited. I was curious about using two 2x32GB memory kits from Corsair to reach maximum RAM capacity. I understand I likely don't need the full 128GB, but that's not important right now. This build is my last opportunity to get exactly what I want, and that makes practical concerns less urgent. Here’s what I have planned. I welcome any advice you might have, especially regarding the memory setup. Can two 64GB kits (four 32GB modules) work together as a single 128GB package? Are there any downsides to this approach? These 4 DIMM configurations are widely regarded as problematic for DDR5 systems. Using 4x32GB or 4x48GB sticks often leads to extremely slow performance—sometimes capped at around 4400MT/s—or even complete system failure. Running such setups is generally not recommended. Avoid these combinations if you want reliable operation. If you insist on maximizing RAM, opt for a 2x48GB configuration, which should function adequately with higher-end drives like 6000 CL30 or 6400 CL32 without major issues. From my perspective, boot times will remain poor, but this is still far better than the performance degradation seen with 4x32GB or 4x48GB.
It's really disappointing with DDR5 speeds right now. You're basically giving up a lot of performance for more memory. I think 64GB RAM won't be a problem anytime soon, and if you're concerned about it later, you could always use 2x48GB instead.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm a bit let down hearing about the DDR5 situation. I'll recheck since I'm working on a white build and don't know if Corsair has any Vengeance 2x48GB in white. At least I can use 64GB, which is still a solid amount. Appreciate your understanding!
