Sure, give it a shot with the 12600K first. You already have it, it's still a solid gaming CPU and avoids the instability problems of the 13th generation. The one you have now might be more than enough and won't cost anything extra.

It's perfectly acceptable with 12600k; it performs just as well as a 14th gen chip and shows no signs of degradation.
