Generally on wifi I experience 210megabits/s download with my virgin media router. After installing a BT HomePod 600 extender, I connected it via ethernet using the included cable (likely Cat 5e) and another ethernet cable from my main router to my PC (also Cat 5e). They appear to route the internet through the wall sockets. Currently I only get 80megabits/s download, same as upload. Any suggestions to improve the connection? The internet remains solid, but I suspect a stronger signal could help.

I haven't tried speeds using those through electrical line senders or receivers, but it's not too late to consider a Wi-Fi mesh setup. I've seen great performance with Google Wi-Fi in various locations. If you've already spent money on this, it might be time to explore alternatives, but mesh Wi-Fi could still be a great option.

Hey, I don’t understand how to do that. At 14 years old, if it’s too costly, it might not be right for me. But I still want some advice on making a mesh Wi-Fi setup.

You need to purchase a mesh system, something you usually can't handle on your own. Asus offers a method to integrate mesh into their routers, but it still requires an investment if you don’t already own their devices.

You own a power line adapter that needs very good wiring and low EMI. If your wiring is outdated, devices with high power draw or interference on the same circuit will disrupt performance. These adapters usually offer slower speeds, but they can be more dependable than WiFi when there’s heavy radio traffic. Also, ensure outlets are on the same circuit—crossing breakers or phases will introduce interference and reduce speed. There’s limited control over this issue.
