I've configured the gaming server at your parent's residence and encountered some challenges with port accessibility. Since they use CenturyLink internet, only one IP address is active at a time, which isn't an issue for them. The main concern is that I can't locate the machine despite having open ports and a running server. I have access to both the server and router settings. To address the port conflicts, I adjusted the listening ports by increasing them by one on the end value—so 4000 became 4001 and 21025 to 21026. These new ports are visible and functional, but I still can't connect to 25565 or 25567 regardless of changes. The server is operational with Starbound and Minecraft servers running on the latest Lubuntu version via Ethernet.

Does your server use a fixed IP address on its network? If not, it might be sending traffic to the wrong IP. When you redirect ports, I prefer to keep the IP consistent rather than letting it change dynamically.

The machines IP remains unchanged. For my servers, I simply use localhost or omit it entirely.

Yes, you're checking if your server's IP matches the one you're sending it to. Make sure your router is set to use static IP addresses. Also, some ISPs restrict port forwarding over the internet—like with FiOS Quantum Gateway, certain ports might be blocked or cause service issues. This can affect remote access from outside your region.

I developed the forwarding setup by following specific steps. Certain routers need additional firewall configurations to function properly after port forwarding.

The internal IP address is fixed at 192.168.0.40. The router's external IP changes periodically. I managed to host servers without issues until now, but it’s currently blocking access to those ports.

Have you verified with the ISP, as they might have updated their policy? Using the router supplied by the ISP gives them broad control over your network, regardless of your wishes. If not, consider resetting the router to defaults and reconfiguring it.

It didn't seem to affect things for a week after I got the server running.

It's interesting. I only mention this after experiencing it myself. Check if you can find the public IP address.
