I've updated my setup with an ax50 tp-link router for VR use. I'm connecting a cable from another device to the router, which provides 100Mb/s download speeds. Everything functioned properly until I changed the cable management settings and turned off the router. After restarting it, I checked for firmware updates but found none. The connection via the wire runs at 30Mb/s wireless and 70Mb/s wired through the exact cable to the router. In the TP-Link software, bandwidth is set to 100Mb/s without priority levels. There seems to be an issue, but I'm still trying to resolve it. Would it help if I return the device?

I mentioned this after you completed the cable management. However, there are many possible causes behind this issue. Here are some things to investigate: 1. Verify the link speed using the Windows adapter settings—if it's 100Mbits, try reattaching the cable until it shows 1Gbits. 2. Ensure both the computer and router are configured for 'Full Duplex'. 3. Confirm the router has a stable internet connection; you might need to contact your ISP for assistance. 4. Although rare, consider whether your Ethernet cable is causing interference from other devices, especially power cables with switching power supplies (some Christmas lights are notorious examples).

in windows there is 1 gbit, i’m not sure what full duplex means but i’ll check that. the router is connected because if i connect a cable straight to the router and then to the pc, it works fine. there are many cables around, but the internet cable going directly to the pc isn’t an issue. i can get the same speed whether i use wired or wireless connections, and the power cable might have interference problems. sorry for my english and i really don’t understand much about this.

Here’s a similar version:

Something comparable to this
Let me know if you'd like it adjusted!

It was configured for automatic negotiation, set to 1 Gb full duplex, but the PC doesn’t display any details beyond that speed.

Sure, I understand. You're using two routers—one for general use and another specifically for VR. Is the cable connecting them to the WAN port on the VR router? Also, are the devices communicating properly without overheating? Do you have a simple switch that could replace the VR router in this setup?

it seems linked to a WAN port before everything worked well; the cable looks fine. I can't use the switch since the router is needed for VR setups. Thinking about it, did placing the router on a magnetic filter on the PC when it was off possibly harmed it? The router isn’t overheating and both cores are running at 10%.

I attempted to detach the router from all the cables near the PC, but the issue persisted. I’m likely going to consider returning the device.

It seems the router wasn't powered on during a short time, but it's now functioning properly. The issue might be related to power or connectivity.
