Need assistance with your room network setup? Let me help you configure it properly!
Hi there, I'm trying to understand this network setup. Right now I have 1 GB internet speed at home, using a cable from my modem/router all the way to my room. Then it goes through a wall-mounted Ethernet port that connects to my Google Wi-Fi router. From there, the Ethernet out port sends the connection to my PC. My question is, should I connect a Netgear switch before the Wi-Fi router, so the router uses one of its ports? Or should I connect the switch after the router and plug the devices into it? I'm hoping this makes sense and would appreciate any suggestions for getting the best performance. Also, I plan to add a Nintendo Switch to this system, which is why I'm setting it up this way.
Your setup appears to be a multi-device network arrangement. The Netgear CM1100 connects to the GS105, which distributes signals to your TV, Roku, Google Wi-Fi router (with two Ethernet-connected units), and the cable to your room. You've created a visual aid to clarify how it works. Let me know if you need further clarification.
