Hello! I’d appreciate guidance from someone more experienced on this topic. I’m considering the MSI MAG X570S CARBON EK X motherboard. My questions are: Can I use it without liquid cooling? Is it possible to remove the water block and rely on a standard heatsink instead? Will removing the water block impact the VRM performance, especially with the 5950X model? Thanks!

I wonder why you're asking this. Are you sure you're getting a solid price? The VRM on that board is more than sufficient, so it shouldn't require any cooling—let alone water cooling. If you're worried, just direct a fan toward the VRM. I’d probably choose a larger cooler (like the Assassin King 120) for a 5950X, but for a 5950X it’s best to have at least a dual-tower CPU cooler such as the Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit.

Alternatively, you could look at a 140W model. It would be helpful if it matched around 275W, allowing your Intel setup to run smoothly without overheating—currently it struggles above 111°C even with a 105°C TJMAX.

I discovered a solid offer at 390€ in Spain for a premium motherboard. I’m worried about the VRM performance if I remove the waterblock, as it might affect heat dissipation. Looking ahead, I intend to install a complete liquid cooling setup, but I won’t replace my current heatsink since I don’t need it for work. Would you mind recommending VRM fans or alternative cooling solutions?
