Looking to combine Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the setup. Planning to use a B550 A Pro but unsure about Bluetooth compatibility. Linux Mint is also in the mix. The parts list is handy, but I need to confirm if everything will work together. I’m buying tomorrow and just want to verify it functions properly.
It doesn't work that way, but you can install a WiFi card in an E-key M.2 slot. I use a USB dongle myself. It handles 1200mbps with minimal problems. Onboard WiFi means if it fails, you need to return/replace the board entirely. It's smarter to keep things modular so issues are easier to manage.
Considering the situation now, I don’t need Bluetooth. The only Bluetooth device I own are headphones. After using Windows Bluetooth for a while, I rarely rely on it and prefer plugging them in directly. For Wi-Fi, I’ll stick with the dongle as long as it’s fast. I plan to keep the M.2 slot available for later upgrades. A 512GB SSD is a solid start, but it’s just the beginning.
I forgot to note that my dongle supports Bluetooth as well, and it performs nicely. Using 3.0 or 3.2 ports gives the best outcome. I've tried two card-based options but they didn't work. My USB dongle functions perfectly. It seems the main issue arises only when signal strength is weak initially. Bluetooth connects automatically and file transfers are swift. This isn't the exact model I own, but a similar one, and it's notably quicker. I positioned mine on a USB extension cable running behind the machine from the back, keeping the PC case covering and safeguarding it while maintaining a strong signal.
What chipset are you considering? You can also use bigger M.2 slots than 256 or 512GB. I currently have a 1TB drive. Some options provide 2TB models too. I tend to go with the SN570 WD Blue line.
