Hi guys, I'm trying to host a local minecraft server and I'me having several difficulties and problems. 1. Quite a bit of internet lag. 2. It requires all users to be plugged into ethernet Are there any better ways of hosting a minecraft server other than using Mojang's "Minecraft Server 1.8.9.exe"? And how do i allocate more ram to the server? And how do i fix the aforementioned internet issues? And also bonus question. If i plan on allowing certain people outside of my network then what should i do? (precautions)

Internet problems aren't easy to solve; you require strong connectivity to operate a server and more memory when you first began running that command. Adjust the settings at 5:06—change 1024 to 2048 or 4096.

Are you experiencing lag on LAN? You might need to upgrade your setup if you want smooth online play. Let me know if you need assistance or a ready-made server file.

No, but I need to know how to get DDoS protection and set up a custom URL for connecting.

DDOS protection isn't required, particularly when playing over LAN. It's costly and unnecessary for local play, especially with friends. A custom URL adds expense without benefit in that scenario.

It seems you're checking if you're connecting via LAN when using "Minecraft Server 1.8.9.exe." If that's the case, you might be doing it incorrectly—just enable LAN settings in-game instead of needing a separate connection.

They won't be able to link up otherwise. It will mention a Java error, bla blah blah, can't locate the server. Regarding internet speed, Speedtest.net reports 900Mb/s up and 900Mb/s down. You're welcome.

Current setup includes one laptop with an i5-5200U processor, Broadwell 15w dual-core, 8GB RAM, and a GeForce 920M. I also have a desktop—i5-4570 with Haswell 84w quad-core, 16GB RAM, and a GeForce GTX 770.
