You're experiencing several issues with your ThinkPad X1 Carbon G9. The keyboard isn't responding except for the power button, the touchscreen is malfunctioning, and you can't determine if the touchpad is working. It won't boot without being connected to a power source. You suspect it might be a battery problem, though you're open to other explanations. The power button only functions when the device is plugged in. After troubleshooting, you found that reconnecting the LCD cable and covering the connector with electrical tape resolved the issue. It seems there might be a short circuit on the bottom panel affecting other components. Your concern about the main board is valid—this could indicate a more serious underlying problem.

I've only attempted to unplug and repurpose the battery again. It functioned temporarily, allowing me to log in, but it stopped working once I put it into suspend mode and placed the bottom panel on.

I unplugged and plugged back in the LCD cable, covered the connector with electrical tape, and it functioned. It seems the bottom panel might be causing a short circuit. Update2: No, I noticed it happening again the next day.

It looks like the issue might be a cable, battery, or short circuit. Do you still have coverage for the product?
