Hey there, I'm just starting out with home networking. I have an Asus RT-AC1200GE router that generally gives solid coverage around my house. But sometimes laptops and tablets in the far corners or other spots lose connection. I've moved the router to different places in the house, but still get dead spots. I tried setting up another access point or repeater, but it felt a bit overwhelming. My friend had an Asus RT-AC56U that he didn't use, so I thought maybe I could set up a mesh network there. I managed to switch the second router into AP mode and create a separate network with a different SSID, which worked fine. But I'd rather avoid having to manually switch devices between networks. I have two quick questions: 1) Can these two routers actually work together as a mesh so devices choose the best connection automatically? Or would I need a more expensive repeater? Thanks for your help!

They need a device like Asus AI Mesh or something comparable to enable seamless connectivity.

Creating identical SSIDs and passwords on both routers allows your devices to seamlessly switch between them.
