Hello, my name is Alexis. I’m using an A7-6700K processor paired with a Cooler Noctua NH-D15 black dual tower cooler. It’s running a 32GB DDR4 2133MHz CPU with NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X z170 Pro graphics card. I recently installed Windows 11, applied new thermal paste, and lowered the clock speed from 4200 to 4000. My PC has been in use daily, but sometimes it freezes completely unless I force a hard restart. I’m really struggling and would appreciate any advice or help. My system was built in early 2016.

The thermal paste you applied is what I used. The heatsink appears to be in contact with the CPU.

It's the model that came with the Noctua fan, and Yes, the contact paste spreads easily while the cooler's metal stays very hot.

The thermal paste is worn out and needs changing. Your CPU is getting too hot, which is causing it to freeze or stop working properly.

Have you removed the case, possibly leaving dust behind? The thermal compound might be outdated and less effective now. Your next actions should include: applying fresh thermal paste, using canned air or an electronics duster to clean the case, cleaning fans carefully, removing the cooler, wiping old paste from the heat spreader and cold plate, reinstalling the cooler with proper contact, updating BIOS settings, and verifying no overclocking is active. Monitor temperatures in BIOS or Windows to confirm improvement.

I really think you probably meant thermal paste rather than a heatsink.

Work kept me up little. Appreciate the notice. Checked the heatsink model the other person mentioned and reread my message. That could really cause some mix-up. Yep, it’s about the thermal paste. Sorry for the mistake and misstatement.
