Hey there, I'm trying to figure this out. I set up a RAID5 array using Storage Spaces with five 2TB drives, giving me around 7TB of usable space. Everything seemed fine at first. Then I considered moving the drives into their own protective case with a fan instead of just sticking them in the back. I found some quality cables and felt pretty accomplished. After booting up, the BIOS took a long time to load, and sometimes it would show that one or more drives weren't reachable. I messaged ASRock about it, and they suggested checking the SATA ports the drives were connected to. They mentioned that changing the ports might make things worse because the system tries to rebuild the original setup. My important data was on those drives, so I'm worried. Do you have any experience with this Windows software? Is it too late to fix this? Any advice on finding the right ports or testing connections while the system is running? Thanks a lot!

For anyone facing this challenge later: I connected all five drives using a single Molex power cord from my power supply. This setup works fine for my power supply since it handles the required wattage, but each cable has its own limits. If your HDDs start spinning and then stop, it might indicate a power problem similar to what I experienced. Also, SATA ports aren't relevant for Windows Storage Spaces. Eventually, I had to replace the drives and use Reclaime software to recover my files—worth the $80 investment. Always verify your drives get enough power and inspect basic connections before altering the array.
