I'm facing difficulties updating Windows 10 to version 1903. My attempts so far haven't resolved the issue, even though it worked with the 1803 update. Initially, the update progresses to 40-45% and then freezes. After some troubleshooting, it reaches 79% before freezing again after a restart and landing on the 'working on update' screen. I've tried several fixes: uninstalled unused apps, ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter (no help), defragmented drives, scanned for errors, reinstalled display drivers, removed USB devices except keyboard/mouse, checked BIOS settings, and verified sufficient space on the boot drive. Despite these steps, I still can't get the update to complete. My system specs are: AMD FX8350, Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0, 8GB DDR3, 1600MHz, GeForce GTX 1060, Windows 10 Pro. I'm unsure if any part of my system is incompatible with the update.

You can start the process by downloading the newest version from the official site. It will update your system automatically. Decide whether you want to retain your current settings and files or perform a fresh installation. Simply download, launch the app, agree to the conditions, and pick the upgrade option before proceeding.

Would you like me to apply the changes immediately or use the tool for updates?

i've got to 27% and hangs about 2 hours, fortunately it continued. i have r5 1600, so looking at your specs, you may have to wait longer. this is a common issue. Why not just do a fresh install with the latest build like @Cyberspirit suggested.

This update process restarts Windows entirely, which may be preferable when issues arise with the standard installer.

You're describing a situation where everything stops working—your computer or device freezes completely, the mouse becomes unresponsive, and the keyboard doesn't register any input.

The upgrade this PC option is included with your purchase, so you should receive it regardless of using the tool.
