you ran a fresh setup of windows 10 and installed everything, then tried to add it to a second partition. you downloaded the iso, extracted it, and followed the installation steps, but noticed it started installing on top of your existing windows instead of replacing it. at around 3% completion, you saw this happen and stopped it. you’re worried about any changes to your current system because of that partial install. whether a 3% setup affected your existing os depends on how it was handled—if it was a clean install or just a partial one, it might not have caused major issues. but since you’re concerned, a full clean install could be safer if you want peace of mind.

You're asking why someone would request two copies of Windows 10? The setup assistant was suggesting an upgrade, but it seems you were trying to keep your current version. To proceed, you should create a large enough partition on your drive for the operating system, updates, and applications. Then prepare a USB drive with the Windows 10 installation media using tools like Microsoft's tool or the disk method. Boot from the USB during setup, choose install, select the new partition. After completion, you'll have two versions of Windows 10 ready to use. If you didn't complete it, it should work fine—activation issues are unlikely.

Thanks for letting me know. I think I don’t have to follow my OCD anymore, since it’s suggesting another install.
