Need assistance with Wi-Fi dual-band and diversity settings?
Hello everyone, I'd love to understand Wi-Fi antenna diversity in a laptop. If I upgrade my laptop's Wi-Fi antennas to two 7dBi dipoles (PCB form) with an Intel dual-band wireless card, should I place one horizontally and the other vertically? Or should both be oriented vertically? Also, what do the AUX and MAIN ports on the dual-band card represent? Please clarify these details thoroughly so I can grasp everything clearly. Thank you all for your help!
It seems the naming likely comes from vendor choices rather than technical necessity. Usually, the main antenna handles Bluetooth and WiFi, while AUX is reserved for WiFi only. The specific names like 1, 2, or 3x3 cards appear to be arbitrary from the supplier's perspective. For more clarity, you can search online for "wifi diversity" to find detailed explanations.
