Attempting to create a Ubuntu 14.04 VM on your W8.1, but it failed immediately. No changes made to default configurations. Images showing the issue are attached.

Hey could you please attach a screenshot of the vbox settings if possible ? I think mass Storage might be the problem..false IDE and master controller setup, but its very difficult to tell without some more information
