I set up Ubuntu and Steam is working fine. Proton is enabled. I'm satisfied with the game choices. What bothers me is that none of the controllers function properly. I own a Bluetooth 8bitdo SN30 pro and a wired 8bitdo sn30 pro2 Xbox edition. The Bluetooth one connects, but Steam navigation fails in all games. The wired version doesn't work at all. I've searched extensively, tried various fixes, but nothing helps.
The system operates on Linux but requires some troubleshooting. Simply plugging it in won’t guarantee recognition; you need to run the lsusb command to see its details like bus number and device number. It appears as 8BitDo 8BitDo Pro 2, but it doesn’t show up in /dev/input-directories, preventing use. Pressing the B-button during USB insertion sets the controller mode correctly. If not, it stays in an incorrect Linux mode, causing delays while searching for compatible software—possibly on Nintendo Switch. After adjusting the mode, run jstest with the command "jstest /dev/input/js0" in your terminal. You’ll see output indicating button presses and stick movement direction. I confirmed all buttons function properly and provide accurate detection. Linux native games outside Steam should work now, though past issues with GOG Steam remain uncertain.
