Need assistance with the RTX 3070 cooling issue during idle.
My RTX 3070 is experiencing a problem where the fans stop completely at idle and then quickly increase to full speed for a brief moment, followed by a reduction. I've attempted to adjust fan curves using MSI Afterburner and Fan Control, but none of these changes affect the fan speeds. The only exception is Fan #1, which operates normally when set to manual control at 97%. The fan speed drops to 0 rpm between 1% and 96%. Screenshots are available for reference.
I would examine the card closely, confirming that the fan cables are securely inserted into their connectors, free from dust or hair, and checking that the wires remain intact and undamaged. If everything is properly connected and functioning as expected, the issue might lie with the fans themselves. A faulty motor could be responsible.
Disconnecting one fan may force the other to operate at full speed because the controller can no longer divide voltage correctly. It’s important to confirm whether your fans are synchronized in speed or if only one is active.
If you can’t check the cables without taking apart the card, consider consulting a repair professional.
