Need assistance with the new build processor?
Hello, I checked the forums and online resources but didn’t find a solid comparison between an M3 Max and Intel or AMD equivalents. Most sites lack tools for apples vs. Intel performance analysis. (Price-to-performance estimates are hard to get.) Could anyone suggest a suitable Intel or AMD processor that matches the M3 Max? I’m not after the high-end i9-14900k, just a solid desktop CPU. I haven’t assembled a computer in years—I currently own a 16" M1 Pro MBP and an M2 MBA for work. I’m planning to build a PC for gaming, 3D modeling, and 4K video editing. I’ll run at 1440p at 120Hz, focusing on indie games rather than AAA titles like Cyberpunk or Tomb Raider. A 4K monitor with good color accuracy but low refresh rate sounds ideal. Maybe a second screen at 4K for better productivity? Thanks!
The m3 is similar to an Intel processor in terms of performance capabilities. Comparing them isn't necessary unless you're evaluating specific strengths for 3D modeling, video editing, and gaming. It's more useful to assess which CPUs excel in those areas rather than focusing on general comparisons.
It seems you're trying to figure out the right hardware for your current needs. You mentioned requirements like 1440p at 120Hz, 3D modeling for printing, editing high-res drone footage, and basic video editing. You’re looking for something that balances performance with ease of use, similar to an M3 series device but on Windows instead of Mac. You’re also considering whether a mid-range setup—around $500–$1200—makes sense given your experience level. The main focus is on getting a solid upgrade without breaking the bank, while ensuring it can handle both creative and technical tasks smoothly.
