Hi! Your setup sounds interesting. The MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge WiFi supports the Ryzen 3700X, but using it at stock speeds with a 3900X VRM might not be ideal. The VRM on that board is designed for higher power delivery, so running a less powerful chip like your 3700X could lead to performance drops or instability. It’s safer to check the motherboard’s specifications or consider upgrading the VRM if you want better stability and longevity.

But why keep insisting on this board?

MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi works great for the 3900x model. Consider exchanging it for a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite or an ASUS TUF X570 Gaming Plus Wifi to get the best fit.

I won’t doubt your motherboard decision, but if you must go with this one, it should work just fine. The 3900X has a 105W TDP, whereas the 3700X has a 65W TDP. You might even manage a slight overclock if you try.

most of them break the TDP limit. TDP refers specifically to GPUs.

The concept suggests a 3700X consumes less energy compared to a 3900X, despite both exceeding their thermal design power limits.

I've already purchased it but can't send it back. The store only sells MSI boards, so I can't return the wrong one. I'm not planning to use the 3900X; I mentioned using a Hardware Unboxed version for testing this board. I'll be using the 3700X instead.

I don't like pushing things beyond their limits. I just want my 3700X to work smoothly at its original settings. If I decide to boost it later, I'll invest in a solid motherboard after a couple of years.

Bad fortune then because MSI offers the worst X570 line overall. I was about to mention that the Asrock Phantom 4 AX performs everything the Edge can, but it struggles in areas the Edge excels at, costs less, and has quicker WiFi. It's fine, though—even if you push it beyond overclocking, since the 3700x only has two-thirds the cores of the 3900x.

Nah..msi is fine..it's not like it'll kill you...and msi isn't the worst depending on which price range you're looking...
